FAQ ABOUT YOUR TAP WATER

  • Q: I don’t like the taste/smell/appearance of my tap water. What’s wrong with it?

A: Even when water meets EPA’s standards, you may still object to its taste, smell, or appearance. If you wish to correct any one of these problems, contact a professional water treatment dealer and have them diagnose the cause. In many cases these problems can be corrected with properly applied water treatment equipment.

  • Q: What if I have a severely compromised immune system?

A: Some people may be more vulnerable to contaminants in drinking water than the general population. People with severely compromised immune systems, such as people with cancer, people undergoing chemotherapy, people who have undergone organ transplants, people with HIV/AIDS or other system disorders, some elderly, and infants can be particularly at risk from infections. These people should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers.

In most cases, you will want to drink and/or cook with water which is of high purity, and bacteria- and virus-free.

  • Q: Why do I need a water treatment system in Indiana?

A: Over 85% of the United States has hard water, but Indiana has some of the hardest water you will find anywhere. Most of the water in Indiana is between 6-35 grains per gallon. Per the Water Quality Association, hardness over 10.5 grains per gallon is considered extremely hard. So you can see why hard water is the most common problem found in the average home.

    • Hardness deposits can cause the following:

    • Clogged plumbing and water-using appliances

    • Increased energy costs for water heaters

    • Scale build-up on fixtures and shower doors

    • Unsightly rings in the toilet and bathtub (soap scum)

    • Dry skin and hair

    • Spotting and stains on dishes and silverware

    • Increased soap and detergent usage

    • White clothing to turn gray, and color clothing to fade

  • Q: Do I need a drinking water system?

A: Water softeners and iron/odor filters improve the water we bathe in and clean with throughout the home, but they are not water purifiers. The water in our area contains medium to high levels of total dissolved solids (TDS), and on municipal supplies we have chlorine which can cause taste and odor problems. Many consumers want to purify their water for drinking, cooking, and making clear ice cubes with a reverse osmosis system.

  • Q: How expensive are water treatment systems?

A: Many water treatment systems range in price depending on size, features, and warranties. Pricing will range from $ 600.00 on up. The first step is to have an Oxley professional water treatment specialist test your water, check your plumbing and determine your specific needs. With this information we can recommend the perfect solution. If you have additional questions or would like to set up a water consultation, please feel free to contact us today!
